Vinmagerne fra legendariske Vieux Télégraphe i Châteauneuf-du-Pape, mestrer også forholdene i Gigondas.

Domaine Les Palliéres 'Terrasse du Diable', er hovedsageligt lavet på Grenache-druen. Et højt indhold af Grenache giver normalt en blød og rund vin, men markerne er højt beliggende, og oppe i højderne gror der muskler frem i Grenache-vin. Det kammer aldrig over, men det betyder, at man på næsten ren Grenache kan opnå en fabelagtig struktur i vinen.

Vinous - 95

Brilliant ruby-red. A hugely expressive, seductively perfumed bouquet evokes ripe dark fruits, potpourri and licorice, lifted by a smoky mineral overtone. Concentrated yet lively in style, showing noteworthy clarity and thrust to the cherry, boysenberry and floral pastille flavors. Becomes nervier and spicier on the youthfully tannic finish, which hangs on with superb tenacity.

The finest vintage to date is unquestionably the 2016 Gigondas Terrasses de Diable, which is the usual blend of 85% Grenache and the balance Mourvèdre and Cinsault. It offers classic framboise, limestone-like minerality, white flowers, pepper, and Asian spices in its full-bodied, seamless, incredibly pure personality. With no hard edges, ultra-fine tannins, perfect balance, and a great finish, it's a sensational Gigondas to drink over the coming decade or more.

Wine Spectator - 93

Ripe and fresh, with good purity to the mix of red currant and damson plum coulis flavors that stretch out against a floral and alder backdrop. Offers a pretty, piercing feel to the finish. Grenache, Mourvèdre and Clairette. Best from 2020 through 2030. 

Wine Advocate - 92-94

Tasted prior to its July bottling, the 2016 Gigondas Terrasse du Diable is an outstanding effort. Fine garrigue nuances and piney scents bring depth and complexity to the ripe black cherry and raspberry fruit. Full-bodied, silky, long and elegant, with lingering thyme and savory notes on the finish, it shouldn't be missed.
