2022 Vosne-Romanée 1. Cru Les Beaux Monts

Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy - 91-94

One of two new vineyards purchased from the Thomas family. 50% whole bunch vinification. Glowing purple. An attractive mid purple. Some energy to the nose though the whole bunches are pretty prominent. It is a light and refined style. Interesting, complex, fresh red fruit, plus a chocolate note, then white pepper. 

Vinous - 91-93

The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru, the second vintage, comprises five barrels this year. The 50% whole bunches comes through on the nose: fragrant red fruit, crushed stone, light earthy scents and good transparency. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, very well-balanced, though I feel the stems are a tad vocal at the moment, slightly impeding the terroir expression. I am intrigued to see how this shows once in bottle.
