Elegant Premier Cru fra Domaine des Lambrays med stort lagringspotentiale.
Morey Saint Denis Premier Cru Les Loups er endnu et funklende bevis på, at Domaine des Lambrays er blandt de største stjerner i Bourgogne.
Pinot Noir druerne til vinen gæres med helklaser (40%) for at give yderligere struktur og kompleksitet til den intense frugt, og der anvendes 40 % ny eg til lagringen af vinen.
Niveauet er indiskutabelt højt, selv for en Premier Cru. Vinen udtrykker sig med fornem duft af mørke skovbær, appelsinskal, varme krydderier og skovbund. En silkeblød tekstur med faste tanniner og en lang, intens, kompleks og dyb eftersmag runder det hele stilsikkert og formfuldendt af. En kæmpestor vin!
Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy - 91-94
A blend of small clay based 1er Cru vineyards which also see the sun. they no longer include the young vines of Lambrays (from 2022). An even, deep ruby purple. This is not ultra concentrated but it is fine, and the 40% whole bunches give that additional fresh white pepper tingle that works so well here, especially alongside the darker fruit. Fully ripe yet finely balanced. Picked before the rain hence the riper flavour profile. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted Nov 2024.
Allan Meadows - Burghound - 90-92
Enough wood to notice frames the spicier and slightly riper liqueur-like aromas of black cherry, violet and rose petal. Once again the mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is exceptionally rich, seductive and caressing that display focused power on the solidly long finish. This is plush to the point of being almost creamy yet there is sufficient structure to warrant 6 to 10 years of keeping.
Vinous - 91-93
The 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Loups 1er Cru contains around 40% whole bunch this year, coming from deeper soils that are more clayey than those for the Village Cru. This is very well defined on the nose, with brambly red fruit and briar unfolding with each swirl yet remaining very controlled. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Quite sweet on the mid-palate with just a hint of dark chocolate, this is actually quite understated on the finish. Give it a couple of years once bottled.
Decanter - 94
There is an edge of chocolate to the ripe black plum aromas of this powerful wine. The texture is rich and dense; in 2023 the alcohol is generous at 14% (the maximum for the domaine). The vines are scattered throughout the appellation down-slope from the village (in Clos Sorbè, Blanchards, La Riotte and Le Village); half the grapes are fermented as whole clusters, and the wine is ageing in cask (40% new).
