Domaine Michel Niellon er en institution i Chassagne-Montrachet, og deres vine bliver kun bedre og bedre år for år. Chardonnay-druerne til denne vin kommer fra stokke, der blev plantet kort efter første verdenskrigs ophør!
Denne 1. Cru byder på en koncentreret og intens hvidvin med smag og duft af modne, eksotiske frugter, let vanilje og krydderier fra fadlagringen og en cremet og blød tekstur. Flot og præcis syre runder det hele flot af og efterlader et overdådigt helhedsindtryk. En vin, der med garanti ville kunne gemmes med fordel i en håndfuld år, men som allerede i dag smager forrygende godt.
Vinous - 92-94
The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Chaumées 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet that is a sibling of the Clos Saint-Jean. The nose is very precise with hints of white peace, orchard fruit and lemon sherbet. It's livelier than Niellon's other Premier Crus. The palate is nicely defined with fine depth and more substance. The slightly honeyed finish will be irresistible. This may well end up at the top of my banded score.
Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy - 94
Planted just after the First World War. Still in good form without offering high degrees. 12.8% in 2023. A very pale lemon colour. The nose is extremely discreet, but with a sense that there is plenty behind. On the palate this has such a fine backbone, and the fruit extends magically through to a long fine finish, perfect poise and balance. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted Oct 2024.
Decanter - 96
Pronounced ripe fruit aromas of lemon peel, nectarine and gooseberry, with an edge of saline minerality. The texture is impressively fresh for the vintage, with a lilting, silky texture, marvellous concentration and great tension on the palate. The grapes are from ancient vines, some more than a century old, planted very high on the slope. This will benefit from a decade in the cellar, but it has the substance to drink for several decades after that.
