Her får man en vaskeægte fuldblods Saint-Émilion med storhed, finesse og et enormt gemmepotentiale.
I næsen og smagen møder man mørke og tæt frugter som solbær, kirsebær og blomme, flankeret af violer, lakrids og opstød af krydderi og grafit. Der er en klar mineralkarakter – især kalk og sten – som giver vinen friskhed og profil og balancerer dens tætte koncentration og stærke tanninstruktur.
Teksturen er krævende og betagende: fast og muskuløs i starten, men med fine, modne tanniner der gradvist afbalancerer vinen. Eftersmagen er lang, intens og mineralsk med en fornemmelse af dybde og elegance.
Drikkemodenhed & lagring: Bedst fra omkring 2029-2030, og kan med fordel gemmes i op til ca. 20-25 år eller mere for fuld udvikling.

The 2022 Pavie Macquin has turned out nicely, offering up aromas of dark berries, licorice, bay leaf and pencil shavings, followed by a medium to full-bodied, dense and layered palate that's lively, concentrated and controlled, with excellent integration and length. Youthfully reticent, it will require a bit of patience.
Decanter - 97
Strong aromatics of dried herbs, blackcurrant leaf, violets, cherries and chocolate. Fleshy and ripe in the mouth with both a sweet, sour and cool aspect to the juicy strawberry acidity that makes this so moreish and zingy in the mouth. Energetic and dynamic, concentrated and streamlined, there's so much to like here with really tasty terroir markers of wet stones, graphite and pencil lead. No sign of heat or overt oak which makes this even more enjoyable right now but this will also age excellently. Extremely classy and packed full of flavour.
Vinous - 94
The 2022 Pavie Macquin has a fresh, vibrant, well-defined and focused bouquet with perfumed red berry fruit laced with violet and light iodine scents. There is a mineralité here that will come through with time. The palate is medium-bodied and fine with a fresh entry, fluid tannins, a keen line of acidity and a sorbet-fresh finish that urges you back for another sip. This is excellent.
James Suckling - 97
The intensity of raspberries, stones, chalk and sea salt is impressive. White pepper. Medium-bodied with really crunchy fruit yet the firm and creamy tannins are really well curated with a polished texture and superb finish. Long and powerful. Such energy. Try after 2029 but hard not to drink before.
