Topanmeldt 1.Cru fra Robert Chevillon med et kæmpe lagringspotentiale.
Fra den legendariske mark Les Vaucrains, beliggende ovenfor Les Saint Georges, præsenterer Robert Chevillon en vin med markant struktur og sjælden kompleksitet. Den stenede, kalkholdige jord giver vinen sin karakteristiske mineralitet og fasthed, mens årgang 2023 tilføjer en smuk balance mellem moden frugt og frisk energi.
I næsen mødes intense aromaer af sorte kirsebær, brombær og solbær med nuancer af røg, mørk chokolade og krydrede undertoner. Smagen er dyb og koncentreret med silkeagtige, men faste tanniner og en lang, mineralsk afslutning, der vidner om vinens store lagringspotentiale.
Vaucrains er den nok mest strukturerede og ranke af Chevillions vine. Druerne høstes fra familiens 1,63 ha. i den sydlige del af marken, hvor de gamle stokke står 260-280 meter over havets overflade. Dyb, ren og elegant åbner vinen med kirsebær, granatæble, mørk chokolade, røg og et strejf af egetræ fra fadet. Tanninerne er perfekt integreret i vinens kødfulde og potente profil, og vinens finish er nærmest uendeligt langt. Man kan kun spekulere i, hvor stor denne vin bliver i fremtiden, for allerede nu er den en kolossal vinoplevelse.
Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy - 94-97
An even mid purple. The high-class nose suggests the power to come as well as the rock below. Everything is immaculately in place. Excellent tension, with the fruit staying more on the red side of the divide. Very pure, balanced and very long. Drink from 2033-2043. Tasted Nov 2024.
Robert Parker - 93-95
The 2023 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains is especially good this year. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berry preserves, cassis, spices, vine smoke and dark chocolate, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with rich tannins, ripe acids and a long, perfumed finish. The inherent charm of the vintage has tempered this site's tendency to imposing structure to deliver an unusually open young Vaucrains.
Vinous - 91-93
The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Vaucrains 1er Cru has the most floral bouquet amongst the Premier Crus from Chevillon. It still leans toward their richer style, which shaves away the delineation I discerned in their 2022s a year ago. The palate is medium-bodied and nicely balanced with pliant tannins, though it clams up and shows a little reduction toward the finish. Still, its fine line of acidity should make it intriguing to revisit once in bottle.
Allan Meadows - Burghound - 92-94
There is just enough wood to notice suffusing the overtly sauvage-inflected dark berry and earth-scented nose. The vibrant and well-detailed middle weight flavors that also possess only average concentration though there is again excellent balance and length as well as more complexity. This lovely effort is the class of the Chevillon range in 2023.
