Uhyre elegant Pinot Noir med 98 point.
Her får man Pinot Noir af fineste karat fra fra Beaux Frères’ ikoniske mark “Beaux Frères” på Ribbon Ridge – en af de mest prestigefyldte appellationer i Willamette Valley. Ribbon Ridge AVA er den mindste appellation i Willamette og er kendt for at danne grobund for det ypperste Pinot Noir i Oregon.
Vinen fremtræder frisk og kompleks med en ren og poleret stil. Syren giver lækker mundvandsdrivende friskhed, strukturen er tydeligt Pinot Noir med finesse og rigdom, og kvaliteten lover, at den kan gemmes mindst 10 år uden at miste sin karakter.
Beaux Frères status som absolut førende vinhus har i mange år været indiskutabel, og blev i den grad cementeret i 2022. Her blev vingården opkøbt af selveste François Pinault, der i forvejen ejer nogle af verdens største og mest prestigefyldte vinhuse. Herunder kan nævnes navne som Château Latour i Bordeaux, Clos de Tart i Bourgogne og Domaine Eisele Vineyards i Napa Valley, og nu altså også Beaux Frères, som under det nye ejerskab har kurs mod at blive en af de helt nye superstjerner fra USA.
Det hele startede dog i langt mere ydmyge rammer, da grundlæggeren, Michael Etzel, i 1979 opkøbte en gammel svinefarm med en drøm om, at gøre den til en vingård, der kunne bide skeer med det bedste fra Bourgogne. Det kneb dog med finansieringen, hvorfor Etzel fik en økonomisk håndsrækning fra sin svoger, som selv skulle gå hen og slå sit eget navn fast i vinverden. Svogeren var nemlig ingen ringere end Robert Parker, den verdensberømte vinkritiker.
I dag dyrkes alle Beau Fréres marker i Willamette Valley økologisk og er blevet det siden 2004. Inspirationen kommer tydeligvis fra Bourgogne, og vinene er derfor utrolig elegant og raffinerede i deres udtryk. Efter gæringen lagrer vinen også delvist på franske Bourgognefade i en periode på mellem 10-14 måneder.

One of the best Oregon Pinot Noirs that I have tasted in the past year, the 2023 Beaux Freres ‘The Beux Freres Vineyard’ Pinot Noir is a knockout wine that really needs another year of bottle age before savoring. Stored in a small amount of new French oak (20%) this delivers an unbelievably good core of pure red fruits, with shades of yellow plum, exotic spices and salty soil nuances on the palate. Showing incredible tension and viscosity, this comes off fat and generous on the mouth. Finishing very long with bright pomegranate and strawberry fruits, enjoy now and over the next two decades to come. Drink 2027-2047

A smooth, suave and spicy wine that is made from the wine estate’s original vineyard. It’s spicy but balanced, offering tangy red cherry, pure black cherry, cinnamon, clove and toast flavors. There’s a flash of new oak, 20%, but carried by wonderful, lively fruit and savory accents from the vineyard. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now or hold.

The 2023 Pinot Noir The Beaux Frères Vineyard has layered aromas of cranberry, blackberry, bitters, mossy bark and holiday spice. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled with concentrated, detailed, spicy flavors. It’s framed by silky tannins and juicy acidity and has a long, spicy finish. It transforms dramatically with air and should be long lived in the cellar.

A cascade of dried flowers, crushed rocks and dusty sage gives way to dried strawberries as the remarkably pretty 2023 Pinot Noir The Beaux Frères Vineyard blossoms in the glass. Elegant and cool-toned in feel, it offers silken textures and depths of ripe, mineral-inflected red berry fruits that slowly saturate toward the close. Fine-grained tannins add a lovely framework as the 2023 Pinot Noir finishes with excellent length and an air of violet inner florals. What a beautiful wine. It displays the ripeness of the vintage in a perfectly balanced way.
Decanter - 94
A sense of austerity from the aromatics (bottled in December of 2024), dark fruits, and plenty of earth character- this wine is tight and structured. This is the estate's signature vineyard, which was once a plum orchard. This site is a mix of own-rooted vines and grafted Dijon clones, the oldest of which are 34. This wine combines elegance and depth of complexity to a tee. The aromatics show fir tips, sous bois and sweet ripe berry. There is a savoury core to the palate, pine sap and ripe berries are well embraced by an elegant texture.
