Santenay er en af Bourgognes udprægede rødvinskommuner, og næsten al vin, der produceres her, er rødvin på Pinot Noir. I kommunen har 12 marker status af Premier Cru, og blandt de bedste af dem er "Les Gravieres".
Herfra kommer druerne til Elodie Roys skønne fortolkning af denne topmark, tilmed fra meget gamle vinstokke plantet i henholdsvis 1952 og 1953.
Efter endt høst gærer vinen med 20 % helklaser inden lagring på egetræsfade, hvoraf 30 % er nye.
I glasset optræder vinen med flot mørk farve, meget klassisk for Pinot Noir fra Santenay. Duften er elegant parfumeret med rosenblade, friske bær og skovbund. Smagen er saftig med frisk frugt og rank syre samt fine tanniner.

Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy - 90
Planted in 1952-53, with no replacement of missing vines until Elodie came back in 2018. Destemmed. 30% new wood. Once again, a relatively light colour, but we don’t mind that. The bouquet is a little bit quiet, without the floral qualities of whole bunches. Discreet too on the palate, not quite the additional surge that this vineyard might have given. The aftertaste though shows just a little more distinction.

The 2023 Santenay Les Gravières 1er Cru comes from the steep section toward Chassagne from 0.52 hectares of vines planted in 1952/53 with an easterly orientation. Vinified with 20% whole cluster, it has a well-defined and understated bouquet with raspberry and cranberry scents. The 30% new oak is neatly integrated. Its palate is medium-bodied with subtle white pepper and clove notes, vivacious red berry fruit and a nicely composed, quite persistent finish. This is well worth seeking out.
