Fantastisk Barbaresco fra en kommunens absolutte topmarker.
Navnet "Asili" får mundvandet til at løbe hos enhver, der holder af god Barbaresco. Det er nemlig navnet på den legendariske mark, hvorfor mange af de største Barbaresco-vine kommer. Med sin sydvendte placering samt noget nær perfekte jordbundsforhold leverer Asili-marken sublime Nebbiolo-druer, og i samspil med Michele Chiarlos fantastiske håndværk kan det ikke undgå at blive godt.
Chiarlo producerer kun denne fantastiske enkeltmarksvin i særligt gode år og kun i alt for få eksemplarer. Til gengæld er der ikke en finger at sætte på vinens kvalitet, for der er ganske enkelt tale om håndværk i særklasse.
I glasset optræder vinen granatrød med et diskret orange skær i kanten. Frisk med noter af friske kirsebær, ribs, en anelse blåbær samt lakrids, tørrede rosenblade og et strejf af træ fra den 18 måneder lange fadlagring i store 700 liters fade (tonneuax). Efterfølgende har vinen lagret 12 måneder i flaske inden frigivelse.

Falstaff - 93
Gently shining ruby colour with garnet red reflections. Delicate yet warm in profile, with a rose fragrance and aromas of sweet cherry and plum, with a hint of cinnamon in the background. Velvety on the palate, with ripe fruit in the centre and gentle drive right onto the lingering finish.
James Suckling - 92
An evolved and complex wine with a lot of fresh leather and blood oranges, dried flowers and earthy tones. Firm on the palate, this has medium body and slightly dusty tannins balanced by fruit concentration and juicy acidity in the finish. Drinkable now but best from 2026.
Decanter - 92
The 2022 leads with alluring aromas of red cherry, rose and black tea. Earthy forest perfumes emerge as this sits in the glass. The palate displays nice fruit depth with brisk acidity accentuating firm, compact tannins. Not quite the height of finesse or length that this site is renowned for, but a good effort for the vintage nonetheless. Produced since 1996, Chiarlo’s Asili comes from south- to southwest-facing plots at 250 metres on blue-grey calcareous marls rich in magnesium and calcium.
