Pertuisots, Montée Rouge, Les Bressandes, Clos du Roi, Reversées forbinder Nicolas Potel på magisk vis, så alle deres individuelle skønheder samles til et sammenfattende og symfonisk udtryk for hele Beaunes unikke udtryk.
Vinen gærer delvist med helklaser, hvor man altså lader stilkene fra drueklaserne gære med sammen med mosten. Det giver et aromatisk løft og en ekstra struktur til vinen, som i denne årgang rammer helt plet, og giver dybde og kompleksitet til vinen. Lagringen er sket i egetræsfade, hvoraf 30 % var nye, hvilket bidrager yderligere til kompleksiteten i vinen.
Det er de helt klassiske noter af kirsebær, jordbær, ribs og hindbær, samt et skønt strejf af terroirfornemmelse fra de 5 marker, hvor man fornemmer en snert af mineralitet, underskov og efterårsblade. En vin med stor power, som utvivlsomt vil udvikle sig flot over de næste 5-10 år.
Wine Align - 92
A Beaune amalgamated from five Premier Cru parcels as an homage to Françoise Potel, wife of Gérard and mother of incumbent Nicolas. A Beaune of early ripening and picking, quantified in this vintage as the last days of August and ripeness shows. Sees approximately 30 percent new wood and makes full use to texturize and harmonize big fruit that needed to find a home. Only 13 percent alcohol (declared) but this is a warm pinot noir that travels straits to the cockles of the heart. Bit of a hematoma swell as far as Bourgogne pinot noir goes and will certainly appeal to those who like a steak wine bad to the Beaune. Drink 2024-2027.
Wine Spectator - 92
An aromatic, spicy version, boasting cherry, strawberry, sandalwood, incense and mineral aromas and flavors. Firms up nicely, with well-wrought tannins adding a light grip on the finish. Best from 2028 through 2043. 200 cases made, 50 cases imported.
Allan Meadows - Burghound - 91
This is firmly reduced and unreadable today. Otherwise, there is outstanding volume to the suave, sleek and well-detailed broad-shouldered flavors that possess fine mid-palate density while the supporting tannins are firm and not unduly rustic on the moderately austere and balanced if decidedly robust finale, indeed this is old school in style. Good quality but be prepared to have at least some patience.
