Domaine Pierre Damoy hører til eliten i Gevrey-Chambertin. Med topmarker i Clos de Bèze og Le Chambertin skaber Pierre terroir-drevne vine med både kraft, finesse og lagringspotentiale. Et sandt referencepunkt for Bourgognes største vine.
Pierre overtog ejendommen i 1992 og har forvandlet de historiske marker – bl.a. 5,36 ha i Clos de Bèze og 2,22 ha i Chapelle de Chambertin – til vine af enestående kvalitet. Han arbejder tæt med naturen uden kunstgødning og sprøjtemidler, og sorterer druerne klase for klase for at sikre den højeste standard. Resultatet er rene, terroir-drevne vine, der både afspejler mikroklima og markernes unikke karakter. Clos de Bèze viser ofte elegance og finesse, mens Le Chambertin er mere kraftfuld og kræver tid, men til gengæld udvikler en storhed, der hører til blandt Bourgognes absolutte top.

Reduction masks the fruit and if for some crazy reason you're tempted to try a bottle of this young be sure to decant it first. Last year at this time the flavors seemed lighter than those of the regular cuvée but that is certainly not the case now as there is imposing size, weight and power to the dense, backward and tight flavors that are massively constituted, indeed so much so that the palate feel is more like that of a rock than a wine! This is a genuine bruiser of a wine and as such it won't be for everyone. However what is absolutely certain is that there's simply no point in opening a bottle of this before at least 15 years and it's going to last for 50.
Vinous - 92-95
The 2013 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Réserve is the deepest and richest wine in this range. Here, too, readers will find a huge, imposing wine that absolutely demands cellaring. As good as the Réserve is, I don't find it meaningfully better or more complex than the straight Bèze. Hints of tangerine and spices add an exotic flair to the classically dark Bèze fruit in this powerhouse from Pierre Damoy. The 2013 was aged in low toast Hermitage barrels.
