Roc de Cambes er uden tvivl den mest prestigefyldte vin i Côtes de Bourg. Bag vinen står samme ejer som af det legendariske Le Tertre Rôteboeuf i Saint-Émilion, og kvaliteten i Roc de Cambes er ofte overraskende tæt på Rôteboeuf .
Vinmarkerne ligger smukt på en sydvendt skråning med perfekt forhold og udsigt mod Médoc – blot få kilometer i fugleflugt fra selveste Château Margaux. Her dyrkes hovedsageligt Merlot (80 %), suppleret af 20 % Cabernet Sauvignon fra over 50 år gamle vinstokke.
I 2022 høstede familien Mitjavile sent, som de plejer, og skabte en vin med 15 % alkohol, men med forbløffende balance og finesse. Hele vinen er lagret på 100 % nye egetræsfade, som bidrager med dybde, struktur og et elegant krydret præg.
Roc de Cambes 2022 byder på intens, mørk frugt, noter af espresso, cedertræ og lakrids, pakket ind i silkebløde tanniner og en lang, kompleks finish. En vin med sjæl og lagringspotentiale – men også en nydelse i glasset allerede nu.

Mingling aromas of sweet cherries and cassis with notions of licorice, espresso roast and spices, the 2022 Roc de Cambes is medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a broad-shouldered profile, framed by powdery tannins, and concluding with a chalky finish. This is always the most structured wine in the Mitjaville portfolio.

The 2022 Roc de Cambes remains perfumed and sensual on the nose with black cherries, peony and iris flower alongside a hint of cassis that blossoms in the glass. This has wonderful delineation. The medium-bodied palate has grainy tannins and comes across slightly more toasty than the Domaine des Cambes, leading to a tensile finish of black pepper, sage and graphite. This is the most linear and Left-Bank-fashioned cuvée from the Mitjavile family this year, and it has bags of potential. 2030 - 2055
Decanter - 93
Ripe and concentrated on the nose, perfumed and vibrant, expressive with the green pepper, herbaceousness of the Cabernet speaking, some menthol aromas and black fruits. Ripe and juicy though densely textured in the mouth, plush and fleshy but stays cool and firm with liquorice and cool blueberry fruits alongside dark chocolate and mineral elements giving nuance. Feels structured and well worked, tight right now, but persistent. Textured, grippy, ripe, fleshy but clean and pure too. A nice, strong, intensity about this.
