Fantastisk vulkansk rødvin fra legendariske Benanti.
Contrada Dafara Galuzzo byder på en sand eksplosion af velsmag. Man fornemmer helt tydeligt det vulkanske ophav med noter af røg og aske i duften, der flot spiller sammen med sorte kirsebær samt tørrede rosenblade. Strukturen er fin som silke med fine tanniner, og en lang og elegant eftersmag.
Contrada Dafara Galuzzo fra Benanti er skabt udelukkende på Siciliens hovedrue, Nerello Mascalese, og er høstet fra parceller på vulkanen Etnas nordlige side i Castiglione di Sicilia. Stokkene vokser i en sandet, vulkansk jordbund, der er utrolig rig på mineraler. Efter høsten afstilkes samtlige druer i kælderen, inden vinen gæres og samt gennemgår maceration i 21 dage i temperaturkontrollerede ståltanke. Lagringen finder herefter sted i store franske egetræsfade, samt en korte periode ligeledes på ståltank, inden vinen flaskes og lagres yderligere 10 måneder inden frigivelse.

The 2021 Etna Rosso Contrada Dafara Galuzzo is exotic and floral, with a burst of ashen stone and dusty rose giving way to dried black cherries. Silky and soothing, it flows across the palate with a pure blend of red and blue fruits propelled by juicy accidity. This finishes structured and long yet perfumed, leaving violet and lavender tones to fade over a bed of fine-grained tannins. The Dafora Galuzzo is a real charmer, yet further cellaring is recommended.

Aromatic and bright with sliced orange peel and watermelon with some cherry, too. Medium body, with firm and medium-velvety tannins that are long and caressing. From organically grown grapes. Lovely now.

Here's a submission from Benanti that comes from a rather unknown contrada. The 2021 Etna Rosso Contrada Dafara Galluzzo is located in Castiglione di Sicilia on the north side of the volcano. The wine shows a medium-light appearance with savory volcanic notes of ash and campfire surrounded by delicate fruit, tart cherry and cassis. The wine has fine tannins with dusty sensations that come from the volcanic environment. Ultimately, the finish is dusty and drying to the palate. This gives the wine an accessible personality.
