Mazzei er en af de mest historiske vinproducenter i hele Italien, og netop denne Chianti Classico Fonterutoli er en af grundstenene i husets imponerende porteføjle af vine.
Fonterutoli består af 90 % Sangiovese, tilsat 5 % Malvasia Negra og 5 % Colorino. De to sidstnævnte bidrager med ekstra farve og dybde til vinen.
Druerne høstes fra i alt over 120 forskellige parceller fordelt på 7 vinmarker i selve hjertet af Chianti Classico. En fortrinlig rødvin med noter af kirsebær, tørrede krydderurter og let tobak.

A lively, succulent and composed Chianti Classico showing aromas of forest berries, dried flowers, thyme and warm spices with some dry clay. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and fresh acidity. Bright and agile, with a vivid center palate and a tactile, driven finish. Drink or hold.

The 2022 Chianti Classico Fonterutoli is a gorgeous, elegant wine—one of the best 2022s I tasted for this report. Silky, layered and super-expressive, it’s all class from start to finish. The ripeness of the year is evident, but the 2022 retains a good bit of freshness to play off its overt dark red/purplish fruit. This is impeccably rendered.
