Glemt alt om dvask og fadtung Rioja, når afsenderen er Alvaro Palacios. Med La Montesa er det helt andre elementer, der er i spil. For selvom vinen er lagret på fad i 12 måneder, er det mesterligt integreret i denne meget flotte vin, der udtrykker sig selvsikkert og elegant med en fremragende kombination af delikate aromaer af moden, sort frugt og krydrede, mineralske noter med et hint af skovbund på en ristet baggrund. Super behagelig og med en livlig fylde på tungen suppleret med præg af krydret, sort frugt og behagelige tanniner inden en lang finish.
En utrolig elegant rødvin, der balancerer fornemt mellem raffinement og power.
Robert Parker - 93
The organic Garnacha 2019 La Montesa fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel vats and matured in barriques for 12 months. As it was very recently bottled, I tasted from two bottles, one uncorked the day before and the other uncorked just before the tasting. The bottle from the day before was more expressive in the nose, but I also liked the austerity of the just-opened bottle. The wine is concentrated and powerful, richer and more concentrated than the 2018, with more density and ripe flavors. It has a medium-bodied palate with very fine tannins. The 800,000 kilos of grapes were hand harvested and selected, trying to avoid very ripe grapes to control the degrees of alcohol, with natural acidity, and the wine is lively and pure, with measured oak. The colors in all the reds are bright ruby, not too dark, and the fruit is red rather than black, despite the warmer and drier year. It has the very fine tannins of the Garnacha in limestone soils. 660,600 bottles and 10,000 magnums produced.
James Suckling - 94
A pretty nose of redcurrants, cherries, thyme and baking spices. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins. Juicy and crunchy with a silky texture and bright acidity. Fresh and flavorful finish. Creamy and delicate. From organically grown grapes. Drink now or hold.
Decanter - 94
Pale colour, but plenty of aroma: floral, with light woodsmoke and Mediterranean herbs. Defined by a hot summer, this plump, full-bodied 2019 has a ripe character with notes of confit oranges. The tannins are more marked than usual, lending a savoury bite to the finish. Long and bold. Almost 100% Garnacha, all destemmed.
