Morey Saint Denis er for mange et måske lidt overset område i Bourgogne, hvor de nærliggende Gevrey-Chambertin og Chambolle-Musigny løber med det meste af opmærksomheden. Kvaliteten kan derimod sagtens være fuldt ud på omgangshøjde som her, hvor Domaine Taupenot-Merme har skabt en fortryllende 1. Cru fra La Riotte marken i selve hjertet af Morey Saint Denis.
Vinen byder sig til med en sand bærsymfoni i duft såvel som i smag, med en silkeblød tekstur og fine og elegante tanniner. En lang og mild krydret eftersmag afrunder denne fortræffelige vin fra en af Bourgognes sande håndværksmestre.
Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy - 91-93
Medium ruby purple. Some density to the nose without displaying the detail yet. A brighter plush red berry fruit on the palate with a good level of acidity beneath. More in reserve than the village wine, and with good energy. Saline finish. Drink from 2029-2035. Tasted Nov 2025.
Allan Meadows - Burghound - 90-93
A mild touch of reduction is just enough to blur the nuances of what appears to be mostly red berry scents. There is better volume and a more refined texture to the punchy medium-bodied flavors that deliver fine depth and persistence on the moderately firm and well-balanced finale. This should age effortlessly over the mid-term yet be approachable after only 5-ish years.
Vinous - 91-93
The 2024 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru has an open and expressive nose, predominantly red berry fruit, brown spices and light tobacco scents. The palate is medium-bodied with quite supple tannins and a keen thread of acidity. Just a touch of Chinese 5-spice towards the finish. This is a capable Morey La Riotte that I suspect will be best drunk early.
