Her befinder vi os helt i toppen, hvad angår tørre Riesling vine. Wittmanns La Borne Alte Reben er en udsøgt raritet, som kun laves i de allerbedste årgange og kun i et stærkt begrænset antal.
Druerne kommer fra den mikroskopiske La Borne parcel, som ligger på den øverste del af Grosse Lage marken Morstein. Her giver de meget gamle vinstokke en vin med helt utrolig kompleksitet og intensitet, som man ganske enkelt ikke finder andre steder.
Druerne gæres med naturlige gærceller i egetræsfade, og vinen er på én gang fyldig og cremet med fantastisk syre og tårnhøj kompleksitet.

With its licorice and fennel aromas, this is a very powerful wine for the cool, high-acidity 2024 vintage. Incredible structure and elegance on the very concentrated, medium-bodied palate. Very limited production. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drink from release.
Vinous - 97
The 2024 Riesling La Borne Alte Reben was picked at 240 meters in elevation in the Morstein. This was named after the French term for boundary stone. Crushed chervil and even a touch of woodruff lend this a gorgeously aromatic nose. This was harvested after yields were severely restricted in August. It was made in just one Halbstück. This really has a riper aspect than the rest of the 2024 collection. It presents a vivid juiciness alongside the cool and salty limestone that is so beautifully framed by lemon. The 2024 has the same equanimity and serenity as the Morstein GG, just with more vivid, herbal savor. The freshness and saltiness last for so long. (Bone-dry)

Distinctly floral on the nose, lavender, meadow herbs, lemon balm, fresh orange. Penetrating acidity in the mouth, fine phenolics, very dry, grippy and with well-defined tactile minerality, compact, an intense flavour experience, distinctive, very young.
