Planted in 2001. Having experimented elsewhere at 14,000 plants/ha (0.7 x 1m), Olivier upgraded to 30,000 (0.33 x 1m) then, when the law was changed to outlaw this density, he continued at 20,000 plants (0.5 x 1m) when increasing the size of the plot in 2007. Today he has 0.40ha at 30,000 and 0.30 at 20,000. Super chiselled on the nose, entirely white fruit, then almost ludicrously concentrated on the palate, while retaining an austerity of profile which is just a question of youth Drink from 2030-2040. The 2022 Saint-Aubin Derrière Chez Edouard "Haut Densité" 1er Cru has a fresh but tightly wound nose featuring hints of flint, shucked oyster shell and grassy meadow. The palate is beautifully balanced, vibrant, poised and focused, with a silver thread of acidity and just a slight honeyed note right on the finish. This is excellent.
