Hos Tenuta Valdicava vægter man i langt højere grad kvalitet fremfor kvantitet. Husets årlige produktion er meget lille, til gengæld er kvaliteten i deres vine i den absolutte top. Her er der tale om en udsøgt Brunello di Montalcino fra den fantastiske årgang 2015, og druerne kommer tilmed fra områdets mest berømte mark, nemlig Montisoli.
Og for at højne kvaliteten yderligere har Valdicava tilmed besluttet kun at udgive vine fra Montisoli-marken på magnumflasker!
Vinens kvalitets bevidnes blandt andet af, at den har scoret de tæt på uopnåelige 100 point James Suckling.
James Suckling - 100
This is the first commercial release of Montosoli from Valdicava and shows incredibly complex and decadent aromas of fruit, wet earth, forest floor, leaves and cedar. Full-bodied with tannins that roll off the palate and flow to the finish. Fine, velvety texture. Lasts for minutes. Already so attractive, but be patient. Try after 2021 and onwards.
Wine Spectator - 96
Rich and solidly structured, making way for pure cherry and strawberry flavors. Iron, tobacco and tar hints augment the fruit as this builds to a lingering aftertaste. Muscular tannins and bright acidity underline all the elements. Only available in magnum. Best from 2023 through 2043. 250 cases made.
