Til denne sublime topvin henter Simone Adams druer fra en lille vestvendt og højtliggende parcel, hvor vækstbetingelserne for Pinot Noir er særligt gunstige.
Ligesom hendes andre topvine lagres Horn i 18 måneder i brugte barrique-fade, og der gæres desuden med 100 % helklaser. Det giver en imponerende kompleksitet til vinen, der byder på lag på lag af skønne noter af fine røde bær, skovbund, sarte urter og træ.
Strukturen er blød som det fineste silke, og efterlader et utroligt imponerende helhedsindtryk, der nemt kan give mindelser om fx. Chambolle-Musigny fra Bourgogne.
Vinous - 92-94
The 2021 Spätburgunder Ingelheimer Horn is from a small parcel on the Horn, slightly higher than Pares, on slightly poorer soil. It is 100% whole-bunch fermented, barrique-aged and made in two barrels, one third-fill, one fifth-fill. Very slight smoke informs the peony notes on the nose. The palate is poised and concentrated, with distinctly drying tannins with a finely-pitched, mouth-watering, tingly bitter edge framing elegant, dark cherry and floral poise with darkest cocoa. Cherry on the nose, fine, cool smoke, bay leaf, mallow tea, earthy notes, forest floor, currant, plum. Develops a subtle and elegant density and minerality on the palate, which guarantees longevity, the tannin is vivid and has capacity.

The 2021 Horn Spätburgunder is based on a clonal selection planted about a decade ago on limestone soils with a more generous but also stony layer of silt than in the Auf dem Haun parcel. Aged in pièces for 18 months and bottled unfiltered in June of this year, the wine opens with a fascinating, deep, intense yet also pure and iodine-like Pinot aroma intermingled with black tea and cherry notes. Very silky and refined on the palate, this is a full-bodied, substantial, very long and intense but not at all powerful or weighty Horn Spätburgunder that reveals a long, finessed and stimulatingly fresh and saline finish. The refreshing astringency is due to 100% whole clusters. This is a complex, age-worthy and feminine Pinot version. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2023.
